Pregnant employees in Hong Kong are entitled to 14 weeks of maternity leave. This is in addition to entitlement to sick leave for the new mother.\n<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fbf5e74 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"fbf5e74\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">In addition, parents are entitled to a total of 12 months' leave, in connection with the birth and after the birth of the child. This includes up to 12 weeks of leave for the expectant mother during pregnancy and six weeks of leave after the birth of her child. The maternity leave is paid for on the employee's regular pay day.\n<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5e2e6f4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5e2e6f4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Paid maternity leave in Hong Kong is calculated on the basis of the employee\u2019s average daily wage over the past 12 months, and is capped at 80 percent. This pay is at a rate of 4\/5ths of the employee\u2019s average daily wages. They also need to provide proof of paternity, and notify their employer at least three months before the due date.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-circle\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\">  <span style=\"font-weight: 700;\">Maternity leave: <\/span> As mentioned above, only those female employees who have worked under a continuous contract for at least 40 weeks, working at least 18 hours per week, and provide notice of their pregnancy and intention to take leave are entitled to maternity leave in Hong Kong. After discussing with their employer, a pregnant employee can commence her maternity leave anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks even before the expected date of confinement.\n<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-39c06e6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"39c06e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">This start date changes in two conditions. One, if the employee has not yet decided upon the date and, two, has failed to secure her employer's agreement.
